![]() I don't really have recommendations on the model - I think Nextbase cameras seem to be to go-to choice for most people. Image quality is also compromised in some cases (on a cheap camera) as a single processor can struggle to process videos from two cameras at the same time - so do your own research. Rear camera is nice to have but obviously not as important, but do note a front & rear cam would use up a lot more memory, so you'd need a bigger memory card. Personally I just use my 12v socket but I do have all my wires hidden in the trim - which is not a difficult job to do at all. (wires all hidden, etc) Some people also do it so they can keep the camera connected to power when the car is parked, since 12v sockets on most cars turn off with the engine. As an added bonus, you get to download footage from an interesting road/drive.īy having it "properly installed" I guess you mean hardwiring it to your car? The main benefit is it keeps things tidy. Personally I think it's worth having, even just a cheap one - in case if you or other motorists need it in an accident. This includes YouTube videos clearly showing you street racing, or doing a 0-100mph sprint on a public road.
